Welcome to the Hackleys Print Archive, showcasing most but not all of David Abbott’s printed work from 2002 until 2009.

I am David Abbott, a Bristol-based artist, designer and photographer. Since 2009 I have been busy with my design studio Chesapeake and have not had much time to make prints. This archive is a public record of what has been made, and also a personal kick up the ass to make more.

I studied in the States, and the first few prints in this archive are from that time. When I moved back to the UK I started Hackleys and made work under that name. From 2005-2007 I did an MA in Printmaking at the University of the West of England. I co-founded Snap Studio in Bristol in 2007 and made the last few screenprints you see here during that time.

The archive is not complete. There are other printed things, such as posters that I haven’t bothered with yet. And there are printed books that I am bothered with, but haven’t yet had time to photograph. They will come eventually, although I will be putting more effort into making new work from now on, and less into archiving what is sitting in my plan chest. Prints are in chronological order and are categorised by medium, and also by year.

Some prints have a written explanation accessible where you see a + icon at the bottom of the page. Some don’t.

Most of the prints are for sale, or available for trading. Please contact me at studio@hackleys.org if you’d like to do either, or both.

The print archive is best viewed on a big-ish screen. Also in a modern browser. Also it’s technically in BETA so please let me know if you spot any issues.

The typeface is Skolar Web, served by Typekit.
